Preservation of vertebrate skeletal specimens

In order to be effectively preserved for a long time, it is necessary to put the orthopedic animal bone specimen into the sealed specimen box, the size of the specimen box is according to the size of the specimen, the material can be plexiglass as the box, specimen preservation needs to pay attention to the following points: 

1. Moisture-proof and mildew-proof

Put a moisture absorbent in the specimen box, or install a dehumidifier in the room, if the specimen has mold, you can use a soft brush dipped in water alcohol and carbolic acid mixture (7:3) to brush or directly brush with anhydrous alcohol.

2. Anti-rat and insect control

Prevent rats from entering the specimen box and damaging the specimen. Insect control should pay attention to the specimen box to be sealed, less open, indoor at all times to maintain a strong smell of insect repellent or insecticide. 

3. Dustproof and sunproof

The specimen box should be closed as much as possible to prevent sunlight from shining directly on the specimen and avoid discoloration of the specimen. In addition, to protect the specimen, it is better to check it regularly and fumigate with medication 1-2 times a year.
